In recent years, through the fundraising events that parents, friends and children have contributed to, the Dickens Heath School PTFA has been able to fund projects such as the 2021 pantomime, a new music and PA system, computing equipment and much more.
However the project we are probably the most proud of – and we hope the pupils and their families are too – is our wonderful school farm and our growing band of animals – Conker the horse, Buddy and Scooter the boisterous goats, our brood of chickens and Coco the rabbit.
Pupils from the school take turns to look after the animals, with the support of Mrs Pritchard, during the week, contributing to their understanding of the world around them and encouraging them to care for others. It costs more than £1,500 a year to keep the farm up and running and it’s a key, ongoing fundraising target for the PTFA.
At weekends we rely on family volunteers to help take care of the farm. It doesn’t take much time so why not sign up in school reception?
